New Zealand’s citrus industry remains free of the Asian citrus psyllid (ACP) and Huanglongbing (HLB) – two of the most significant threats to citrus production globally. Maintaining that status relies on preparedness, awareness and strong grower networks.

Next week, growers have a unique opportunity to hear from leading researchers Dr Lauren Diepenbrock and Dr Ariel Singerman, who work closely with the Florida citrus industry where these pests and diseases are present.

The programme includes orchard visits, an industry insights session and an informal evening discussion, covering early detection, monitoring, integrated pest management strategies, and the wider operational and economic impacts HLB has had on the Florida citrus sector.

This is a valuable opportunity to hear firsthand experiences and discuss practical steps that can help strengthen preparedness for New Zealand’s citrus industry.
